COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Update from Dr. G. - July 7, 2020

It has been 2 months since Governor Abbot allowed Dental and Orthodontic offices to reopen.  I hope that all of you and your families are healthy and well.  In these difficult and uncertain times, I wanted to update you on the additional steps that we are taking to ensure your safety.  Since we reopened, we have always done the temperature screening and COVID- 19 screening questionnaires.  Also, everyone who enters the reception room receives hand sanitizer and all patients receive a hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse to neutralize COVID-19.

The screening staff will also continue to remain in the reception room, to monitor social distancing and also to ensure your children’s security when you’re not with them.  Of course, we ask that the parents of very young patients remain with their children, as well as parents of new patients.

Because we began to purchase supplies while we were closed, we were able to procure more advanced supplies. You will notice that the clinical staff and I are now wearing hospital grade respirator masks and isolation gowns.  This is in addition to our usual face shields and gloves.  The administrative staff are also using surgical level face masks.

Our building has also installed an advanced UV-C (antiviral ultraviolet light) filtration system throughout the air conditioning system.

The recent extreme rise in new COVID-19 cases in San Antonio and across our country means that many of us know someone personally who has the virus.  I especially want to thank those patients and parents that we have had to reschedule for their honesty in reporting a possible exposure.  Because of you, we have been able to remain open to take care of our patients.  I know that you would want the same consideration if you or your child was at risk of exposure from another patient.  Please continue to monitor and self-quarantine if you feel there was a potential exposure to you or your family.

I appreciate your continued trust in our office and please contact us if you have any other questions.

Warmest regards,

Roy Gonzalez, Jr., DDS, MS
